American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works

The American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) is a membership organization for conservation professionals primarily from the United States. Established in 1977, AIC encourages discussion, research, education, and publication of ideas and practices in the field of art conservation. It provides a Code of Ethics and Guidelines of Practice to be followed by all members. AIC sponsors annual conferences, publishes a newsletter (4x/year) and professional journal (3x/year). The organization has subgroups in the areas of paintings, book and paper, photographs, textiles, objects, wooden artifacts, and research.
