A white, crystalline powder that is used as a Mordant in textile dyeing. Barium acetate is also used as a Drier for paints and varnishes.

Chemical structure

Soluble in water and acids. Insoluble in ethanol.

Highly toxic by ingestion. Contact with skin and membranes may cause irritation.
