Description

A protective or decorative layer placed on the surface of another material (substrate). Many type of materials are used for coatings. Examples are fabrics, metals, paints, varnishes and polymer films. Coatings may be draped, painting, sprayed, baked, shrink-wrapped, or vapor deposited onto the substrate.
