Hibiscus

Description

Any of several flowering shrubs from the genus Hibiscus. Native to tropical and subtropical regions, the hibiscus is commonly grown in temperate zones as an ornmental landscape plant. Hibiscus fibers have been used in paper mats and woven baskets.

Small tree or shrub growing to 3 m with pyramidal crown., Bark=smooth brown with gray striping. Leaves = oval with serrated edges (5-8cm long), palmately veined. Flowers=5 petals, white to red (8-12 cm across) blooming during summer.
