Description

A medium texture reddish brown sandstone quarried on Isle Royale in Lake Superior (near Thundery Bay, Ontario). Isle Royale sandstone was primarily quarried from 1883-1888 by the Chicago and Verte Island Stone Company (manager General John McArthur). The hard red stone resembles Connecticut Brownstone and was used for building exteriors.
