| Uemura's notes | What was called "Momo-zome" during the Nara period (710-794 AD) was actually "Momo-iro-zome (=dyeing pink)", and was not reflected in this author's examples. In Kumamoto region, Japan, the wood bark of this plant was said to be used for dyeing. Use of its flowers or leaves as dyestuff would only generate pale colors; and that of its fruit would not any. |
