Paranitroaniline

Description
Yellow needles or powder. Paranitroaniline is used in the colorimetric test for lignin. The intensity of the color is proportional to the concentration of lignin in the sample.
- Wood pulp - brick red to dark orange color
- Mechanical pulp - orange
- Bleached sulfite pulp - yellow

Soluble in ethanol, methanol, ether, benzene. Insoluble in water.

Hazards and Safety
Highly toxic by skin absorption, ingestion and inhalation.
