Description

The generic name for a series of polymers based on paraxylylenes. Parylene is unique in that it can be vapor polymerized to form a thin continuous coating on a surface. Parylene adds mechanical strength and flexibility to the coated material. Parylene coating is irreversible and it is not light fast.

Other Properties

Soluble in hot orthodichlorobenzene or hot choronaphthalene. Insoluble in most other chemicals.

Hazards and Safety

Deteriorates in ultraviolet light.
