Absorption and fluorescence emission spectra

Description

A small group of red and violet synthetic organic vat dyes discovered about 1912. Perylene has been laked as an artist pigment since 1957. They have good to excellent lightfastness in watercolor paints. Perylene colors have also been used in automobile paints. In recent years, several perylene derivatives have been used as photoconducting compounds in optical LEDs.
