Description

A security system that uses radio frequencies to monitor inventory locations. The radio frequency identification (RFID) system consists of transponder tags, a transmitter, and a receiver. Whenever the identification tags receive a designated signal from the transmitter, they each emit a specific preprogrammed radio frequency that can be detected by either stationary or portable (wand-type) receiver devices. RFID systems usually operate in the frequency range of 8-14 Megahertz. RFID systems provide non-line-of-sight reading and simultaneous reading of multiple items to locate and identify tagged items. Applications include taking inventory, monitoring circulation, registering movement, and finding missing materials.
