Description

A strong, hard Steel produced in the 18th century. Sheffield steel, or crucible steel, was rediscovered by Benjamin Huntsman in Sheffield England in 1740. Similar in composition to Damascus steel, Sheffield steel is made in small enclosed earthenware crucibles. The lids seal tightly to provide an anoxia environment during heating.
