Illustration of shoddy

Description

Recycled wool as defined by the US Wool Products Labeling Act of 1939. Shoddy is composed of wool fibers obtained from either new rags and table clippings or from worn garments. Fibers from worn garments are weaker than the new fibers. Shoddy can also refer to recycled rubber or leather. Mungo is a poor quality type of reworked wool with shorter fibers than shoddy.
