Uemera's notes The dyed color with the winter leaves might generate more red tone on a fabric, according to the "中陸漫録 (Churyoku-manroku)" by Seiyu Sato (佐藤成裕 ), 1826. If mordanted with melanterite (FeSO4・7H2O) in stead of alum, the resultant color would be less red tone and become more yellow tone. The recipe was from the "近世雑染 八、そよご染".
