Uemura's notes In some regions in Japan, a plant name "Tochi" would be also used for oak tree (Quercus acutissima Carruth); however this is not the case here. The resultant colors of these experiment showed that the plant would not be suitable for dyeing, not achieving strong colors. Therefore, what had been called "Tsurubami-zome ()" should have used acorns from oak tree, rather than the fruits of this plant.
