Wool dyed with Turkey red

Description

An unstandardized hue name for a deep red color. Turkey red originally referred madder obtained from the Near East. Lake pigments or dyed cloth prepared from the madder were also given the Turkey red name. The name continued to be used for synthetic colorants of the same hue.
