Description A thick paper formed from multiple sheets adhered with an adhesive then pressed to produce a hard, stiff board. Pasteboard was used for book boards and playing cards in Europe from the early 16th to the late 18th centuries. It is now primarily used for making boxes and cartons. See Bristol board and cardboard.
