First coating of epoxy
Photograph of a first coating of epoxy. Following concrete reduction, a 2-4 mm. thick layer of a concentrated mixture of Paraloid® B-72 in an ethanol and acetone solution was applied to the reverse. The layer sealed the porous concrete surface and provided a reversible separating layer between the mosaic and the new backing system. Image credit: Marine Mosaic Conservation Project
