Indian yellow under Ultraviolet fluorescence
Photograph of a portrait of Sidh Sen of Mandi painted around 1725 in Punjab Hills, Northern India as seen in visible light (left) and ultraviolet light (right). Ultraviolet inspection revealed the characteristic bright fluorescence of the pigment Indian yellow. The artist used Indian yellow alone and mixed with reds and greens to create the ornamentation worn by the figure as well as the ground on which he stands.
