Description

A water-soluble blue aniline dye. Nicholson blue is the sodium salt of triphenylrosaniline-monosulfonic acid. Discovered in 1862 by Nicholson, it readily forms a permanent blue color on Silk and Wool. Nicholson blue was sometimes mixed with Barwood to form an inexpensive imitation of Indigo.
