Permanent set

Description

A measurement of the failure of a material to return to its original size after a compressive or extensive load is removed. Permanent set is expressed a percentage of the final size (or thickness) of the material divided by its original size (or thickness). A material that has a high permanent set is good at returning to its original shape.
