Sheffield silverplate

Description

A metal laminate composed of a heavy copper sheet clad on one or both sides with thin sheets of silver. Sheffield silverplate was invented by Thomas Boulsover in Sheffield, England in 1742. It was replaced by electroplating techniques in the late 19th century.
