Greensand

Description
A naturally occurring green-color sand that contains carbonates and glauconite along with a large percentage of silica, potash, and alumina. Greensand is used for water filtration and water softening because it extracts calcium and magnesium from the water. It is also used as a refractory material in foundries. See also foundry sand.
