Description

A fill mixture composed of polyvinyl butyral (Butvar 98), kaolin, and fine particles of paper, hemp and/or jute. AJK dough is prepared as a water emulsion. It dries with some shrinkage to form a strong, lightweight material. AJK dough has been used for ceramic fills and reconstruction. It has also been used to repair badly cupped and lifted lacquer (Umney 1987).
