Uemera's notes This color is what was called "Sohi (纁)" in the Ibukurei (衣服令) from the 8th century AD. There were two colors which were obtained by dyeing with madder, written in that document. The one in a deeper tone was called "Hi (緋)" and the other in a lighter tone was called "Sohi (纁)".
