Asbestos board

Description

A construction or insulating board made from asbestos fibers mixed with portland cement and molded under high pressure. Asbestos boards can withstand temperatures up to about 540C (1000 F). These boards are now generally made with asbestos substitutes such as mineral wool or glass fibers. The heavy, brittle boards are used for fire proof screens, roofing, siding, and flooring as well as for insulation in ranges and stoves.
