Barium chloride

Description
Poisonous, odorless white crystals with a bitter taste. Barium chloride can be mixed with potassium dichromate to form the pigment barium yellow. It is also used as a mordant for acid dyes, as a pesticide, and as a component in leather tanning solutions.
Other Properties
Soluble in water, methanol. Insoluble in acetone, ethanol, ethyl acetate.

Hazards and Safety
Toxic by ingestion, inhalation and skin absorption. Noncombustible, but decomposes with heat to produce toxic fumes.
