Uemera's notes The color "Ebi (葡萄 = grape)" used for clothing in the 7-8th century AD, Japan is not related to this dyeing technique, although they are called same. In the "Senryo shokubutsu fu" from the 20th century, use of grape as dyestuff was noted.
