Description
A soft, crinkled fabric made from silk or rayon. Canton crepe was first made in Canton, China in the mid-19th century from Canton silk. The plain weave fabric has a crosswise rib produced by warp threads that are finer than the filling. The lustrous fabric is heavier than crepe de Chine. Canton crepe is used for dresses and suits.
