Description

1) An obsolete name for a dull yellow ochre pigment (Mayer 1969).

2) A small goatlike antelope, Rupicapra rupicapra, native to the mountainous regions of Europe and the Caucasians. The soft, supple leather prepared from the goat skin is also called chamois. See Chamois leather, and PVA Chamois.
