Description
A hydrocarbon compound in which one or more hydrogen atoms has been replaced by chlorine. Chlorinated hydrocarbons are used as solvents for oils, waxes and grease. Examples are Chloroform, Carbon tetrachloride, and Methylene chloride. Most chlorinated hydrocarbons are highly toxic.
