Description
A colorless aromatic hydrocarbon liquid. Diethylbenzene has similar solvating properties to Toluene and Xylenes but it evaporates slower. Diethylbenzene has been used as a solvent for Acryloid B-72; when used as a consolidant, the slow drying properties of diethylbenzene allow the polymer greater penetration time (Welsh 1980).

Hazards and Safety
Fire risk. Flammable. Flash point = 55 C.
Moderately toxic. Inhalation, ingestion and skin contact cause irritation and pain.
