Uemera's notes A dyed brown found in "Shimanuki, Tamba-cloth 丹波布" is achieved by this recipe. For other brown found in the "Tamba-cloth" from Sasayama region (篠山) , Japan, they use holly tree (Soyogo) as dyestuff instead.
