Jacquard

Description

An intricately woven fabric made using a draw loom equipped with a jacquard mechanism developed in 1801 by Joseph-Marie Jacquard. The jacquard attachment to the loom used punch cards to allow the machine to weave complex repeating patterns using hundreds of colors and textures of yarns. Jacquard looms make tapestry, Brocade, Damask, Brocatelle, Matelassé, and other cloths that are often used for wall or floor coverings.
