Description

Soft deliquescent crystals that are water-soluble. In a closed environment, a saturated aqueous solution of magnesium chloride will form an equilibrium at a relative humidity level of about 34% (20C). Magnesium chloride salt is also used for fireproofing wood, treating Cotton and Wool, as well as for the manufacture of Parchment paper.

Soluble in water and ethanol. Evolves substantial heat when dissolved in water.

Deliquescent point at 20C is 33.6 % RH (see saturated salt solutions)
