Polyvinylidene chloride fiber

Description
A manufactured fiber in which the fiber-forming substance is any long chain synthetic polymer composed of at least 80% by weight of vinylidene chloride units (Federal Trade Commission definition). The generic name for PVDC fibers is saran.

Other Properties
Burns with green flame producing pungent odor and evolving HCl.

Hazards and Safety
Combustible but self-extinguishing. May release acids when heated.
