Description

Name given to two types of stone quarried on Deer Isle in Maine (Bucher 1996). Prior to 1870, a very dark green Marble was quarried. Later a pinkish gray, coarse-grain Granite was quarried from the island. Also called Stonington Pink Gray, this biotite granite is used for building and monuments.
