== Description ==

A bright red pigment synthetically prepared by the co-precipitation of [http://cameo.mfa.org/materials/fullrecord.asp?name=cadmium sulfide cadmium sulfide] and [http://cameo.mfa.org/materials/fullrecord.asp?name=mercuric sulfide, red mercury sulfide].   Variations in the cadmium and mercury ratios produce a color range from deep orange to maroon.
