Description

A rich yellow ceramic colorant developed in the early 20th century. Chromium antimony titanate is a solid solution of chromium antimonate and titanium dioxide. Analysis shows the approximate proportions are 2-5% chromic oxide, 10-20 % antimony pentoxide, with the remainder titanium dioxide. The additions of electropositive elements will both intensify and darken the yellow color.

A lightfast, opaque, staining, synthetic organic pigment made about 1946. Chrome Titanate is a mixed metal pigment that contains chromium and titanium and sometime antimony oxide. It was created to provide a stable, non-toxic alternative to traditional lead- or chromate-based brown and yellow pigments. Its hue ranges from warm yellow-brown to olive-brown, depending on the precise formulation and particle size. Chrome titanate was originally developed as a vinyl siding pigment that retain its color under prolonged sunlight exposure. Its use has transitioned into artist materials, house paints, ceramics, plastics and other finishes.
