Description
[AKA Chemie Wishab, Germany] A brand name for a factice eraser. Tapeten Reiniger erasers are composed of vulcanized rubber and/or vegetable oil mixed with chalk. The Tapeten Reiniger erasers leave copious small crumbs that darken to a deep orange color on aging (Estabrook, 1989). Surface pH measurement of the Tapeten Reiniger erasers gave a neutral value of 6.97 (Estabrook, 1989).
Other Properties
Insoluble in most solvents.
Hazards and Safety
Residual sulfur and/or chloride may be present from vulcanization
