Palm frond

Description

Thin sheets made from leaves of palm trees that were used for writing and painting in India, Nepal and southeast Asia. Palm leafs were probably used for manuscripts as early as the 2nd century CE, but the earliest known extant leaf is from the 10th century (Batton 2000).
