Description
A former brand name for a fibrous variety of talc (hydrated magnesium silicate) that was used in paper coatings. Agalite produced a dense, highly polished paper. The soapstone mineral is mined in New Jersey. Other similar minerals, such as talc and asbestine, have also been called agalite.
