Description

A numerical value, usually expressed in Debye units, for the strength of polarity in a dipole. The dipole moment is the product of the total electrostatic charge in an electric dipole multiplied times the distance that is separating the positive and negative charges. The dipole moment provides information about the bonding characteristics and reactivity of a molecule.
