Years after years, the Bibliotheque Nationale de France has developped techniques dedicated to his primary mission of book conservation. To the traditional curative conservation and bookbinding activities, new activities were added concerning preventive conservation, training of personal, digitisation and research. The BNF Technical Centre permits a true scientific approach due to development of analytical techniques, studies of material aging and alteration conditions. | |||

Chemical analysis of the materials and their alteration products | |||
Mechanical tests | |||
Aging tests (light, temperature, relative humidity) | |||
