Description

A passificaton method used to produce an inert surface on a metal or thermoplastic material. Flame treating uses an open flame to form a thin oxide film of the surface. For a metal, the treatment can make it less susceptible to corrosion. Flame treatment of thermoplastics can make them more receptive to inks, lacquers, paints and adhesives.
