A fabric coated or impregnated with natural or synthetic rubbers. Rubberized fabric was first developed in Scotland by Charles Macintosh in 1823. His latex coated fabric, called Mackintosh cloth, was used for waterproof coats. Rubberized fabric is used for crib sheets, hospital sheets, tarps, and rainwear.
