Description
A yellow, carotenoid pigment found in egg yolks, yellow flowers, body fats, green vegetation, and bird feathers. Xanthophyll, or phylloxanthin, acts as an antioxidant and is included in eye medicines to prevent macular degeneration. Examples of xanthophylls include lutein, zeaxanthin and cryptoxanthin.
