Description
[BASF] A registed trademark until 2010 for a series of synthetic dyes. Zapon dyes are initially soluble in water and most organic solvents. However, they hydrolyze in water or air to form a stable, insoluble product. They belong to the group of organic metal complex dyes , mostly with chromium or copper or cobalt as the central atom.
Zapon dyes are used as a component of transparent lacquers (such as Zapon lacquer) for metals and for wood stains. Some examples are:
dye | comment |
---|---|
CI Solvent Yellow 32 | Chromium complex |
CI Solvent Yellow 21 | Chromium complex |
CI Solvent Yellow 45 | Chromium complex |
CI Solvent Orange 5 | Chromium complex |
CI Solvent Orange 6 | Chromium complex |
CI Solvent Red 109 | Chromium complex |
CI Solvent Red 35 | Chromium complex |
CI Solvent Red 8 | Chromium complex |
CI Solvent Violet 2 | Chromium complex |
CI Solvent Blue 25 | Copper complex |
CI Solvent Brown 37 | Cobalt complex |
CI Solvent Black 34 | Chromium complex |
Physical and Chemical Properties
Generally soluble in organic solvents.
