Description
An analytical instrument used to measure and specify color. A typical colorimeter has a built-in standard light source, three colored filters and photoelectric cell detectors (Mayer 1969). The color of an unknown is compared to the color of a standard or set of standard reflectance tiles. The results of colorimetric analysis are presented as chromaticity coordinates. Colorimeters have been used to determine fading and yellowing.
