Description
[Dow Corning Corp., Midland, MI] A registered trademark for a white, low viscosity silicone rubber that can be cured for use as a gap filler, adhesive or flexible mold. Dow Corning® 3100 RTV Silicone Rubber contains a silicone elastomer (polydimethylsiloxane) mixed with cristobalite (up to 15%), quartz (up to 1%), diatomaceous earth (5%), alumina hydrate (7%) and tetrapropyl orthosilicate (3%). When 10 parts of 3110 RTV are mixed with catalyst S, the silicone will cure in 24 hours. The cure rate is controllable, from 20 minutes to 48 hours by varying the type and amount of catalyst. As with most silicone rubbers, 3110 RTV has good chemical resistance and handling properties. Shrinkage is listed as 0.3-0.6%.
