Both ethylene dichloride and carbon tetrachloride are strong solvents that will dissolve oils, waxes, fats, paints and many polymers. Degradation products and or impurities in Dowfume 75 may corrode aluminum, magnesium and their alloys (Zycherman and Schrock, 1988).
